Yorkshire Kirklees Smokefree working to promote the GOLD Standard in Workplace Wellbeing Charter
We’ve been working in partnership with ‘Kirklees Better Health at Work’ this Stoptober! Our Kirklees Smokefree advisors Shabana and Joy attended a Breakfast Networking event hosted for local business to promote the GOLD Standard in Stop Smoking within the Workplace Wellbeing Charter framework.
The Workplace Wellbeing Charter was held by our Stop Smoking Advisor Shabana. It was the perfect opportunity for employers to demonstrate their commitment to the health and wellbeing of their workforce. The positive impact that employment can have on health and wellbeing is now well documented. The workplace wellbeing charter provides employers with an easy and clear guide on how to make workplaces a supportive and productive environment in which employees can flourish. Organisations of all sizes can use the charter standards.
Employers who sign up will find the right support they need to meet the charter, available through a network of providers who can offer employers these health and wellbeing services. This can help them build the healthy workforce that the business needs for the future!
As a part of the campaign Kirklees Smokefree held an event to raise awareness of Stoptober at Foxes Biscuits in Batley. Stop Smoking Advisors Shabana and Ann engaged with 25 employees who were smokers, taking their carbon monoxide readings and informing them of the benefits of giving up. The employees were enthusiastic to take part with 3 of them deciding to refer themselves to the service on the spot!
Our success with this project is very encouraging for the Kirklees Smokefree team and gives a great foundation to work in partnership with local businesses.View all
